GBS Receives Award from VDI

At the VDI Conference “Cylinder Liner, Piston, and Connecting Rod” 2018, GBS received the award for the best poster titled “Manufacturing and Testing of Laser-Structured Adhesive Friction Surfaces.”

The award ceremony for the best poster took place at the end of the event. The authors described their motivation as follows: Surfaces with high adhesive friction functionality can be economically produced in large series with tight tolerances and reproducibility using laser technology. This enables new design approaches for power-transmitting connections and the substitution of individual components. In this context, 3D surface characterization gains importance as a quality inspection step arranged after the process. Using the principle of white light interferometry, raised melt burrs are detected and geometrically measured.
