News from Standards Development in Geometrical Product Specification (GPS) — First-Hand Information from German Members of ISO: this is the core concept of the annual event in Chemnitz, held under the direction of Dr. Rolf Klöden.

ISO GPS (Geometrical Product Specification) defines rules for design, manufacturing, and metrology that ensure unambiguous, drawing-based specification and verification of technical-mechanical systems and components — with minimal room for interpretation across all industrial sectors. These standards not only enable global, international communication among engineers but also form the foundation for ambitious initiatives such as Industry 4.0.

The German members of the ISO GPS standards committee organize the annual “GPS News Meeting” to inform the industry about the current status of standardization work and to discuss which future steps should be taken.
